The Foundation provides three types of awards:
- GS Khush Merit Scholarships to undergraduate meritorious students from rural areas. Each scholarship carries an amount of Rs. 24,000 per annum and a certificate. So far the Foundation has awarded 11 merit scholarships to the undergraduate students during the academic year 2012-13; 29 during 2013-14; 35 during 2014-15 and 55 during the academic year 2015-16.
- GS Khush Travel Grant to post-graduate students and young faculty of PAU for participation in scientific conferences in India and abroad with the objective of promoting post graduate students and young faculty to share their research findings and interact with other participants. The Foundation awarded six travel grants (including four international ) during 2014-15 and will award13 travel grants in 2015-16 (including three international) with a maximum amount of Rs 20,000 for conferences held outside India and up to Rs 10,000 within India.
- GS Khush Team Award for scientific excellence in transfer of technology to farmers with the objective of strengthening linkages with farming community. Each year the Foundation awards cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a citation to the best performing extension team of PAU.
At the annual function of the Foundation, each year a distinguished expert in the chosen field of Science, Technology, Agriculture and of other vital societal issues is invited to deliver a comprehensive lecture.
The first guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Ashok Gulati (Chairman of the Commission on Agricultural Costs and Prices, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. Of India, New Delhi).
Second guest lecture was delivered by Dr. R.S. Paroda (Chairman of the Trust for Agricultural Sciences [TAAS} and former Director General, ICAR, New Delhi)
Third guest lecture was delivered by Dr. S. S. Johl, Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda on March 1, 2016
