Promoting Agriculture Development in Punjab

The Dr. Gurdev Singh Khush Foundation for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences was established in 2010 through a generous donation by Dr. G. S. Khush. Its primary mission is to promote education, research, and training in agriculture by providing scholarships to deserving students, particularly from rural Punjab, and supporting travel grants for young scientists and postgraduates (objectives). The Foundation also invites distinguished scholars to deliver lectures and share their expertise. at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU).

Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill

Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University.

A distinguished academician and eminent researcher shared his expertise on public health and zoonoses. He elaborated on the significant contribution of animal sciences to Punjab’s economy and highlighted ongoing research on livestock production and agricultural diversification in the state, emphasizing their impact on public health and nutrition.

Dr. Anil Sharma

Associate Director (TV), Punjab Agricultural University

The Foundation also recognizes and honors scientists for their outstanding contributions to agricultural communication and social work. This year Dr Anil Kumar Sharma, Associate Director (TV), Communication Center, PAU, Ludhiana, was awarded “Award for Excellence in Communication” for his outstanding contributions to agricultural communication through both innovative and traditional media platforms. An accomplished author and media innovator, he has written 5 books, edited 15 volumes of Changi Kheti, and coordinated more than 20,000 radio and television programs, making him a leading figure in agricultural and science communication.
